Who are we?
CollegeTalk is a mobile app that extends the college classroom. A place where classmates can talk about classroom experiences related to higher education: using simple communication. Its fast and easy to use, like Instagram. You are not limited to your own classes. All classes in CollegeTalk are public and are shared globally. Are you taking Two-Dimensional Design at the University of Wisconsin? Chances are students at Durham University in the UK are as well. So talk with your classmates and/or join class timelines at other institutions and see what they are learning.
What we aspire to become!
We want CollegeTalk to become a cMOOC. cMOOCs promote materials that are aggregated (rather than pre-selected), remixable, re-purposable, and feeding forward (i.e. evolving materials should be targeted at future learning). cMOOC instructional design approaches attempt to connect learners to each other to answer questions and/or collaborate on joint projects.
How will we do it?
By starting simple with the current version of CollegeTalk we are laying a foundation that allows all participants to move to collaborative learning. Were not there yet in CollegeTalk version 1, but just wait. Upcoming versions will include file uploads, camera uploads, website links, and a few other surprises. This digital media can be added to the CollegeTalk Asset Library which participants can select and mix into an Asset Bucket. These buckets create a learning experience which we call Assertive Learning. Assertive Learning is a teaching experience by which classmates work together and target their needs using knowledge from others. So join us and help extend the community of learning.
Classes...
Search, join, and view classes at your college, or any college for that matter. No waiting for classes to be added, you can add one.
Class Timelines...
The timeline is the conversation of a class. Classmates can converge to discuss anything, todays assignments, someones notes, you name it. Easily flip between your class timelines.
Can you help?
CollegeTalk is in need of folks to help with our translation files. If you have mastered English and one other language wed love to work with you to get that other language into CollegeTalk. The pay is terrible (none) but the bragging rights for your resume are good. The task is actually simple and takes only a short amount of time. Please contact support.
